Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy is a treatment of tumors with radioactive radiation. Specific to this treatment is that the treatment takes place from the core of the tumor and so breaks down the tumor from the inside so that damage to other tissue is minimized. In this treatment, radioactive material is briefly introduced into the tumor through a long, pre-inserted cannula and removed again. This radioactive material is enclosed in a so-called “seed”. Such housings, smaller than 1 mm, and sealing caps, also smaller than 1 mm, are produced in large numbers by our Swiss precision machines. These seeds are then checked very accurately and up to 100% and, if desired, with a unique code to enable traceability.
